Ashley & Michael
Ashley admittedly claimed to have dramatic engagement standards. Early in their relationship, she jokingly told Michael that her dream proposal would mimic the movie Stepmom, where Ed Harris wakes Julia Roberts up to a proposal in bed. Years later, on New Years morning, Michael recreated this movie scene! Ashley woke up in bed to a ring being place on her finger. The day was spent with family, friends, and lots of champagne toasting to the best year yet.
Ashley and Michael said their vowels as the sun set over the bay, in the town that they love to call home, joined by their favorite people. The ceremony was stunning as it overlooked the bay, in a quiet park at sunset. The ceremony was heartfelt and unique to the bride and groom. Michael’s brother wrote the ceremony, which was read out of a vintage German copy of The Old Man and The Sea. The bridal party consisted predominately of their nieces and nephews and it was simply adorable and meaningful to watch them walk (or ride) down the aisle.
After their "I Do's," guests enjoyed a stroll along the Ocean City boardwalk to get to the reception at Harrison's Harborwatch. Ashley and Michael chose Harrison's Harborwatch since the views were fantastic and they liked that as soon as guests walked up the stairs, they were immediately greeted with a party atmosphere filled with an open bar, food stations, and dancing all night long!
The couple entered the reception with a grand statement! There were double fog machines blasting into the air, similar to a Raven’s game, with lights circling the room. Rush’s "Spirit of the Radio" blared through the speakers as they popped out of the elevator onto the dance floor. Ashley had a song made for the Father Daughter dance that started with the Beach Boys and then Elton John and ended with guests being invited to dance to Stevie Wonder’s "Isn’t She Lovely."
There was a slow motion video booth which was a hit. Also, since there were no seating charts, guests were able to mingle and party the entire evening. Guests enjoyed an antipasta station, pasta made to order, carving station with filet and jerk chicken, and a seafood station featuring an assortment of fish medallions and shell fish that was raved about. Ashley and Michael's wedding cake was a three tiered vanilla almond cake created by Sugar Rush by Theresa.
DJ VO was great with helping to design the GOBO light for the dance floor. Ashley designed the shot glass favors, invitations and signage. Most importantly, there was a lot of collaboration with Alison, from Alison to the Altar, who truly brought the bride and groom's big day to life. All of the little details, delicious food, a top shelf open bar, and lots of mingling and dancing guaranteed a memorable day for all!
May your years ahead be filled with joy, romance, and more movie-like dreams that will come true!
